Rec Rows
ERC promotes whaleboat rowing as a community-building, healthy form of exercise as well as an environmentally-friendly means of access to the Bay that carries on an age-old local tradition. We offer weekly non-competitive recreational rows open to the public, for all ages and levels of ability--beginners are welcome! For the first month it is free to row; after that we ask that you pay our (very reasonable!) seasonal or annual dues to continue rowing. Contact our club Treasurer to pay dues.
Typically "rec rows" go out year-round, every Tuesday night at 6:45 pm and Sunday mornings at 9:30 am from S.F. Boatworks, next to the Ramp restaurant at the corner of Mariposa and Illinois streets.
Please park on the street, not inside the Ramp or Boatworks parking lot.

Once a year, the Rec rows will leave from a different location, so look below and check the hotline at (415) 289-6661 to confirm before you head out. Any changes should also be posted above the "Ruby Sailing" sign at the entrance to the Ramp.
Here's what you need for your first row:
- layered, comfortable exercise clothing and shoes. you will be sliding on your seat, so it's best if you have shorts or sweats with no seams or pockets on the back--if you wear jeans, your butt will go on strike.
- if you have them, bring a pair of biking or workout gloves. a bottle of water also wont hurt.
- you can have your valuables with you in the boat as long as they are in a compact bag that can stand to get a little wet. we rarely get soaked on a rec row, but we make no promises nonetheless.
- on Tuesday nights, after the row we often have a cold beer at our sponsor club — Mariposa Yacht Club — so bring your wallet!
